But you only know how to work on models & celebrities, right?

Not true! My passion is bringing out the innate beauty in all my clients - which regularly includes people who are not models or celebrities. No matter who arrives in my chair, bare faced, I treat them the same. I’ve worked with people of all ages, colour and creed - my entire career. Rest assured we will work together to create a look that allows you to be you, but better, and feel like a superstar for a day!

I’m getting married, do I need a trial?

This is bound to be one of the most special days of your life, so I recommend 100% of my clients book a trial. Why? For peace of mind in knowing that everything will look perfect on your big day. Your trial allows us to test, if needed, every combination of products, styles and finishes, as well as how it wears over a number of hours. This is invaluable, and will help inform a look tailored perfectly for you on your wedding day.

Should I start bare faced?

Yes, this will allow me to ensure the best canvas to work from. Any unplanned makeup removal will take up valuable time.

I’m thinking of getting a fake tan on the day of my wedding, is that OK?

Fake tans are risky when not tested first - in terms of patchiness, and potential skin reactions. I recommend therefore seeking out a professional tanning salon, and timing a trial tan with your trial makeup so I can perfectly match your foundation to your body, and also to test the longevity, colour and evenness of your tan.

I’m considering a new skincare regime or facial before my big day, what do you recommend?

Any changes in skincare which are not tested for at least 4-6 weeks prior to your big day is not recommended due to potential for unplanned skin reactions. Consult with a professional beautician about timing any changes in skin care.

I’d like you to apply lashes, are they included in the fee?

Yes included in the fee is one set of false lashes, or multiple individuals. Double stacking or extra sets are charged at cost price.

How long will the service take?

Allow minimum 60mins for glam, 90mins for bridal. Less than this is not viable for a high quality, long lasting result - so bookings shorter than this are not possible. My recommendation: get ready as early as possible to build in a sufficient buffer for any last minute hiccups. Often getting ready is the best part of the day, and you want to avoid rushing it and/or avoidable stress. Please discuss your schedule with me well in advance for my advice on this.

I have lash extensions, is that OK?

Yes of course, but please ensure they’re done within a couple of days of your booking with Damian, from a lash artist you trust and have tried before.

Can you do my makeup at my place?

Sure, I’m fully mobile however a travel fee applies for areas outside of Cairns (see below). Please ensure adequate space at your place for me to setup: at minimum a table with 2 chairs (so I can sit facing you) or alternatively 1 x high chair. Near a window with natural light is a bonus, but just in case I have a makeup light.

Can I come to you?

Yes I can accommodate clients in my home studio in central Cairns upon request.

Is there a travel fee?

Yes, this is non-negotiable. I charge the standard local rate for travel for all services: $50 for Palm Cove, $100 for Port Douglas and $200 to the Tablelands.
- Please provide parking for Damian close to the venue - or a parking fee may be charged.
- Accommodation fee’s may apply where the location is 2 hours or more travel.

My friend wants her makeup done now that you’ve arrived, can you squeeze her in?

Granted I don’t have a booking after you, of course, however payment is due upfront via credit card prior to starting the service.

Do you offer makeup for our flower girl?

Yes, granted she is 12 years of age or younger, and include at most blush, shimmer, clear mascara, lip gloss and light powder. Girls 13-15 years old will be charged as a regular glam makeup $150 which includes an age-appropriate full makeup service (base, eyes and cheeks) but is limited to lipgloss only for lips.

Booking terms & conditions

Bookings:

Due to high demand, a non-refundable deposit is required to secure your date for all bookings, payable via secure Square credit card link, or bank deposit
- Weddings + Lessons: 30% total deposit | Glam: $50 deposit per person
- no date is secured without a deposit
- failure to pay a deposit in due time will result in forfeit of your date.
- deposits are non-refundable under any circumstance.
30% surcharge for public holidays and New Years Eve.
Early morning bookings may incur a supplementary fee, enquire within.

Payments:

Credit card: Payments by secure, globally renowned booking platform Square, however please note a 2.2% processing fee may be applied to credit card payments.
Bank transfer: Available on request, but please allow 3 business days for funds to arrive in Damian’s account.
Weddings + Lessons: balance due 7 days prior to booking → unsettled balance after this date assumes cancellation
Glam: balance (cash or card) is due on the day strictly before commencement of makeup session. Note: For settling via bank transfer, please allow 3 business days before session for funds to clear.
Clients are responsible for payment of all services as part of their booking including their wedding party/group. Consider your numbers carefully, as changes in group numbers will not be accepted. If one member of your group cancels - you’re obliged to find someone else to fill their spot or pay their fee regardless.

Cancellations:

Glam & Makeup lessons: Less than 24hrs notice obliges 100% of balance to be paid
Weddings: All cancellations oblige 100% of the balance due to be paid. Postponements negotiable with Damian with sufficient notice.

Refunds:

Under no circumstance does Damian offer refund for completed services. Dissatisfaction with any of his services is to be discussed together at time of service.

Scope of service:

A full makeup service is priced, timed and delivered as a typical application to the face and neck area, and excludes services such as, but not limited to tattoo cover and body makeup (back, chest, arms, legs and / or torso). These require additional time and product use, and incur a surcharge which must be factored into pre-booking quote.

Timing:

Time is factored carefully into each makeup service at 60 minutes for special occasion makeup and wedding party bookings, and 90 minutes for bridal bookings. Should this timing be exceeded by fault of the client, including lateness, or neglecting to notify Damian of any last minute set backs well in advance of the booking will incur a $95 fee per 30 minutes exceeding the booking time, per artist booked as part of the service.

Pricing:

Damian’s prices are subject to change without notice, but existing confirmed bookings already secured by deposit will have their rate honoured as agreed upon booking.

Health & Safety:

Damian is not, under any circumstances, responsible for any allergic reactions to products used. By agreeing with these terms & conditions above you’ve been given the chance to divulge any allergies or hypersensitivities for yourself and/or your group booking.
To ensure Damian’s health, his team and clients, Damian reserves the right to refuse service on any clients displaying contagious viral symptoms including but not limited to cold sores, vomiting, diarrhoea or rash.
